Anticipation for a landmark event in the Caribbean grew as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 celebrated the unveiling of the competition’s Official Emblem and Official Look for next year’s tournament.
Unveiled by the Bahamas 2017 Local Organising Committee (LOC) in Nassau, the logo incorporates several elements that speak to and reflect the rich culture of the island nation.
“The Official Emblem is a testament to the beauty of the Bahamas and the great appeal of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup,” said Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director.
Team Pugg edged a thrilling final to claim silverware in Oceanfront, Virginia Beach at the weekend.
Team Pugg claimed the U.S Open at the North American Sand Soccer Championships on Sunday with a dramatic sudden death penalty win over FBS FC. The finale offered a fitting end to a thrilling few days of beach soccer action that saw impressive crowds flock to Oceanfront for both the U.S. Open as well as dozens of other male and female events across various age groups. Pugg were relatively slow burners to begin with in the tournament and were actually beaten by FBS in the group stage, while taking six points from Portland BSC and McLean BSC.
The 2016 North American Sand Soccer Championships are most grateful to our many outstanding participants, volunteers, sponsors, advertisers, vendors, and military affiliates. The Spain and Barcelona great continues to lead the popular coaching sessions in Oceanfront.
Local youngsters at Oceanfront Virginia Beach, have been gaining valuable beach soccer expertise and coaching from Barcelona and Spain legend Ramiro Amarelle as part of the North American Sand Soccer Championships (NASSC). The 2016 U.S. Open is due to get under way on Friday but the build-up to the competition has seen two-time FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Golden Ball winner Amarelle put on a series of training camps where local kids can hone their skills with one of the sport’s all-time greats. Sessions began on June 4th and run until June 9th, with aspiring goalkeepers also able to receive coaching from Spain and Tahiti stoppers Dona and Jo Torohia. Both have been named best goalkeeper at recent FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups and the trio will offer expert hints and tips for the next generation of beach soccer players.
